Shrewsbury BID and Shropshire Society of Architects have called in experts in architecture and urban planning to lead a public debate on the future of the town’s Quarry Swimming Pool. The panel will share their views and experience on broader town centre development and growth opportunities, as well as the role that leisure facilities play in vibrant town centres, and will also be taking questions from the audience. The opinions discussed will be forwarded to Shropshire Council which is considering whether to revamp or rebuild the pool on the current Quarry site or move it to a new site. Expert panel: Paul Keogh, founder of Paul Keogh Architects (Chair) former president of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland David Rudlin, Director of URBED (Urbanism Environment and Design) founder Academician of the Academy for Urbanism and joint Chair of the Sheffield Design Panel David Albutt, Director of Leisure-Net Solutions providing services to the cultural, active leisure and health and fitness industries Ruth Reed, Director of Green Planning Studio and first woman to be elected president of RIBA Simon Wall, town architect, one of Ireland’s best known architect planners consulted by government on national town regeneration initiatives David Tittle, Chief Executive of MADE Midlands-based champions of high quality built environment
