Six new board directors have been appointed by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) to help its drive to champion the town and deliver improvements for the business and wider community.

The appointees are: John Major, Majors; Megan Edwards, The West Brom; Rob Walker, GAME; James Hitchin, The Alb; Ann Tudor, Claremont Accounting, and Inspector Edward Hancox, West Mercia Police.

The new board members, representing independent and national retail, pubs and bars and office and commercial sectors, were elected at Shrewsbury BID’s annual meeting held at University Centre, Shrewsbury.

Mike Matthews, Chairman of Shrewsbury BID, said: “I would like to welcome and thank the six new board members for volunteering their time to a cause we all have a stake in. They will bring their skills and enthusiasm to a Shrewsbury BID Board which reflects the town’s businesses and organisations and shows the value of partnership working.

“In the BID’s first two years we have made significant progress. We are determined to build on this and meet the challenges ahead to realise our vision for Shrewsbury and its commercial health and success.

“We are fortunate in having the backing of members who share our passion for Shrewsbury and want to ensure it remains a vibrant and original town where people want to work, live and visit.”
